Spring Window Trends

Fri 9 Mar 2018 Amy Kilvington

If you’re planning to update your home this spring, there are a few key trends worth thinking about. From playful pastels to deep earthy tones, from bold botanicals to subtle seaside hints, the interior styles of SS18 are certainly diverse. What kind of look are you hoping to achieve? Our interior designers are here to help, explaining the trends of spring with a range of stylish blinds from Roman Blinds Direct

Ice-cream colours

Say goodbye to simple solid colours in favour of cool and creative combinations. Shades that are reminiscent of ice-cream will soar in popularity, including lemon, pistachio and mint. Whatever your preferred palette, these summery shades are sure to brighten up your space and make for a tasty effect. Ice-cream colours will be exhibited in bold geometric designs and the simplicity of these basic patterns, combined with the playfulness of the colours, makes for a truly impactful look. Here are some of our favourite ice-cream inspired fabrics, perfect for kitchens, studies and your little one’s bedroom. Click the images to shop!

Botanical prints

This spring, greenery continues to interact with our interior styles, not only in the form of houseplants, but through fabric patterns, wallpaper, artwork, ceramics and more. Tropical prints like palm leaves and exotic flowers will be popular, along with a more cultivated approach in the form of sketchbook designs and delicate embroideries. Dark forest tones will begin to overtake neons, making the botanicals in our homes more masculine and refined. Window dressings are the perfect way to welcome this trend into your space – click the images to shop our botanical blinds today.

Warm pink tones

Neutral shades of pink are another mainstay in the world of interiors this spring. Over the last few seasons we’ve matured from the sugary sweetness of millennial pink to a warmer palette of peach, salmon and coral. These soft shades work wonderfully with richer berry tones, as well as dark shades of charcoal and navy. This combination is an elegant approach to styling pink, moving your interiors away from modern millennial and towards boutique brilliance. Earthy hues

Shades of camel and terracotta will push ahead of cooler neutral tones, though taupes and greys remain popular choices. These earthy hues bring a sense of the environment indoors without the vibrance of green or the busy-ness of tropical prints. Look for natural fibres like cotton and linen, patterns with a tribal edge and textures that are reminiscent of tree bark and pebbles. If you’re feeling brave, opt for a loud and proud shade of rust or mustard, adding spice to your earthy style. Here are three of our favourite earth-inspired Roman blinds – find out more about them by clicking the images.

Ombre elegance

Ombre effects are rising in popularity, from large scale graduated walls to delicate fabric gradients. There’s a modern elegance about this trend, blending together a number of shades to create a natural yet tailored effect. Ombre styles work well in a range of colours, though it’s particularly nice to see earthy tones blending through into understated neutrals. This integrates another of the season’s big trends and is sure to create a super stylish space for spring. Click the images below to shop our ombre-inspired Roman blinds.

Nod to nautical

Finally, this spring will see more mature nautical looks. The trend itself is timeless, but this season maritime styles will adapt to become understated nods rather than fully-fledged flings. When it comes to colour palettes, bold blues and reds will be exchanged for soft minerals and creams. In terms of patterns, we’ll be swapping boats and anchors for smart blue stripes and sea foam effects. The nautical trend will always work wonders in the bathroom, and with this spring’s subtle offering, it can also be a welcome addition to kitchens, dining rooms and bedrooms, too.
