Spring Summer pantone colour report

Pantone’s spring palette transports us to happier places, allowing us to express ourselves with a childlike sincerity, creativity and wit. Its soothing effect is undeniable; youthful in its simplicity, these ten familiar tones offer calmness and comfort without compromising style.

This palette brims with contrasts. Several of its colours are rooted in the natural world – tones that can be drawn from the depths of the ocean, or pulled from the thick of a rainforest. At the same time, other shades are reminiscent of architecture and industry, the muted hues of blue and grey relating to a modern urban environment.

This decade of tones boasts enthusing alternatives to the colour wheel’s primary components. Fiesta, Buttercup and Snorkel Blue offer fun reinterpretations of the traditional red, yellow and blue, sparking an adolescent simplicity. Of course, these bright and bold shades require some grounding, which is where the quieter tones come in; Serenity and Lilac Gray pull the palette back to maturity, ensuring it remains elegant whilst exciting.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing you to Pantone’s top ten colours for spring ’16. Explaining why each shade is worthy of a place on the palette, we’ll discuss their individual personalities in more detail, and explain how you can incorporate the shades into your own home decorating ideas.
