FESTIVAL

We are slowly creeping towards the end of August, and we’re just a few weeks away from the leaves turning colour and the nights beginning to draw in. However, before summer disappears behind the clouds for another year, we at Roman Blinds Direct are gifting you with some extra-sunny room inspiration! These room design ideas will be rife with colour and summery vibes.

With both Creamfields and Reading and Leeds Festivals taking place this coming weekend, we are beginning the end of summer by showing you how to create a festival look in your own bedroom. Big crowds, camping, expensive tickets and loud music isn’t to everyone’s taste, but that’s no reason why you can’t produce an artsy and fun atmosphere in your very own home. This motif doesn’t require you to drastically alter your home decor, making it exceptionally simple to style and restyle.

The only real rule with fashioning a festival ambience is that it must be a jovial and spirited affair. The room inspiration we are furnishing you with here would be perfect for anyone who is just off to university and looking for a low-budget yet effective way to style their halls of residence.

Festival

The beauty of this interior is that it retains all the enjoyment and frivolity of a festival, minus the mud, meaning you can invest in some more stylish luxury items that you may not want to take into the middle of a sodden field.

For your colour scheme, there is an enormous range to choose from; for a sunny and optimistic look, mix and match light shades of blues and yellows to reflect the summer skies, or to accentuate some earthier tones, a softer shade of brown would lend a warm radiance. To further the feeling of nature, a lighter green shade is ideal, creating a relaxing and calm vibe.

To achieve that genuine party atmosphere, hang some bunting from your windows or across your ceiling from one end of the room to another. If you want to go for that original and handmade look, why not make your own? Our Bundles of Fun are perfect for getting crafty and creating your own bunting from an assortment of brilliant and colourful fabrics, as well as other accessories such as garlands, throws and cushion covers.

Feather accessories like dream catchers and feathered lightshades will weave a mystical air within your bedroom, adding to the already magical ambience. Rather than using your ceiling light, invest in a couple of lamps to create a cosy and ethereal atmosphere – if you want to go that step further, purchase some coloured light bulbs to generate a diverse and fun aura around the room. Fairy lights are another low-energy addition to a festival decor, which further enhance the magic and mysticism. If you can lay your hands on some floral fairy lights, they would evoke feelings of summer fields and freshness.

For your roman blinds, we recommend shimmering fabric that changes colour in the light. Various colours from our Prestigious Polo range of blinds are perfect for this; blue roman blinds such as Polo Cornflower or Polo Colonial Blue, shimmer and change colour in the light, fluctuating between deep, oceanic blues, emerald greens and soft lilacs, radiating a trippy and spontaneous vibe. If you’d prefer a lighter tone for your window blinds, a green roman blind like Polo Verdi gives a feel of nature and warmth to any room.

You can complement your roman binds with some cushions made from the same fabric, or go for a complete contrast to provide some diversity. A stylish and eclectic choice of cushion, which promises to become a vivid and artistic focal point in your festival interior, is Studio G Harriet Raspberry. Incorporating a regal floral pattern, printed onto a gorgeous raspberry background, this fabric looks wonderful when used to cover a plump cushion, providing a rich and plush aesthetic.

If you are planning to go to an actual festival, you can of course take some of this room inspiration with you; decorate your tent with some bunting, accessorise with dream catchers and take along some battery powered fairy lights – you can always go for the full style when you get home!
