Brazilian-Inspired Blinds For Summer

One of our favourite trends of summer ’16 is brilliant Brazilian. With the Rio De Janeiro Olympics approaching, it’s totally fitting that bold patterns, vibrant colours and South American style can be observed throughout textiles and interior design. Brazilian style incorporates striking abstract motifs that showcase the most saturated of colours. Its palette is dominated by fiery orange, rich red, sour turquoise and canary yellow, while designs include stripes, zigzags, tropical and animal print.

The Brazilian trend is eccentric and evocative, conjuring up scenes of crazy streets in the midst of Carnival, along with images of wild jungles and untamed animals. A fiesta of colour, pattern and texture, it’s an exciting addition to the SS16 trend portfolio, which focuses heavily on muted tones and florals.

When it comes to this style, both subtle nods and full-on fiestas work very well in the home. For those that prefer a more sensitive take on Brazilian flair, we recommend a couple of Latin American-inspired cushions, a quirky throw or a bright lampshade. Decorators that want to go all-out can opt for vibrant rugs, large pieces of art and colourful items of statement furniture. Of course, whether you have Brazilian bubbling away low and slow or turned up to maximum, a complementary window dressing will always complete the look.
