Autumn Makeover

Have you started to notice the leaves on the ground? Alas, autumn will soon take a firm hold on the UK, but we at Roman Blinds Direct couldn’t be more excited about that, because it means that we are getting ever closer to rolling out our fabulous Autumn-Winter Collection. This also means we will be able to gift you, once again, with some seriously cosy and stylish room inspiration!

While you have been out enjoying the sunshine this summer, our interior designers have been busy as beavers in our design studio selecting exactly the right fabrics for our collection, as well as the various sub-collections which will be featured on our site. These sub-collections are going to cover a broad range of styles, so our Inspiration page is set to have a massive variety of room design ideas, more than one of which is certain to suit your taste.

Making the shift from a summer decor to an autumn/winter one is actually a much simpler process than it may first appear; however, the results will signify a sudden and drastic change of style in your home, which may be a little too much change all at once. That’s why, for this week’s dose of room inspiration, we are showing you how to make a gentle transition from spring to autumn, including sneak previews of some of the roman blinds which will be in our upcoming Autumn-Winter Collection.

The Scandinavian interior design trend remains in vogue for the forthcoming season, and many of our room design ideas take their cue from this beautifully evocative style. Thanks to Scandi still being on-trend the two colours of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity, are also the colours to include in your home, both lending a weightless and dreamy ambience to any room. Copper is an essential inclusion to coordinate with these colours, adding a vintage, chic charm that transports an interior to a classic period of simplicity and style.

By including copper, you are able to add an autumnal lilt to your home; however, if you wish for a wintrier motif you should ensure you incorporate some wood within your decor. Adding some rural sophistication to your home, wood can be introduced to a room in a wonderful variety of ways. Furniture is an obvious choice; wooden bookcases, chest of drawers and tables in deep tones of oak or walnut make for an earthy complement to your soft shades of Rose Quartz and Serenity. Accessories and objets d’art carved from wood that can be placed on windowsills or mantelpieces lend a quaint charm and enhance the natural feel in a room.

To conjure up even more wintry thoughts, include a faux fur rug to lie in the centre of your living room. Faux fur is the perfect way to create a cosy and warm ambience that radiates around the room; winter is a time for staying at home in the evenings, so you should be surrounded by luxurious and warming objects that make you genuinely want to stay indoors.

The colour scheme for your walls is also something you should consider changing; whereas summer is a time for light shades, ranging from whites and creams to bold reds and yellows, your autumn shades should be more muted tones. Our interior designer suggest cool shades of teal or turquoise to adorn your walls for the upcoming season. Tones of maroon or claret are warmer alternatives, showing you are strongly embracing an autumnal decor.

Throughout the summer months, Floral was one of the hottest trends; flamboyant and sunny colours abounded in our Spring-Summer Collection, and we urged our readers to inject some serious flower power into their summer decors. Rather than this flower power wilting during the colder months, the Floral trend is a prime example of how you can transition your decor from summer to autumn. For instance, if your windows are currently adorned with the beautiful and bright Prestigious Madagascar Lagoon, this can be easily transitioned into an autumnal theme by substituting it with a more subdued, muted pattern like Prestigious Poppy Tobacco.

Voiles are also a furnishing to consider for your windows. These thin fabrics allow natural light to stream through the windows while making sure your privacy is not disturbed. A white voile like Casadeco Moucharbabier Jaune, which features an immensely chic geometric pattern, is perfect for lending a wintry air to your home, as though frost has settled on your glass pane – even though this particular frost is helping to keep a house warm!

Complementary cushions in a gentle-shaded fabric such as iLiv Lilium Soft Red will further enhance this hazy, autumnal vibe – not to mention add serious comfort and style to your space.
