Airy Blue

We’ve been counting the weeks and now it’s finally here, our Autumn-Winter Weekly Colour Report!

Our readers can look forward to ten fantastic weeks of room design ideas from our interior designers, who will be gifting room inspiration to suit a wide variety of tastes, each week featuring a different colour from Pantone’s Autumn-Winter 2016 palette.

This series also gives us the opportunity to showcase various roman blinds, cushions and curtains from our brand new Autumn-Winter Collection, which comprises of five different sub-collections, each of which are every bit as elemental and atmospheric as the fabrics within them.

For the colder months, Pantone has given us the blues, but in a very good way, and we are kicking off our Autumn-Winter Colour Report with one of the coolest, most versatile tones in their palette: Airy Blue.

While the majority of the autumn colour palette is an eclectic range of warm, deep shades, Airy Blue is one of the few exceptions; this light hue brings the coolness to the mix with its mystical presence and soothing properties. The real magic of this colour is that it can be incorporated into a room either as a base colour or as an accent, depending on which other colours you choose to feature.

As a base colour, Airy Blue should be used liberally. Paint your walls rather than using wallpaper, and accessorise with light blue artefacts that will coordinate, such as table lamps with Airy Blue shades or artwork that incorporates this weightless tone. Accentuate with gentle shades of yellow to lend some sunny optimism, preventing your decor from becoming a cold, sterile environment.
To use it more sparingly, place Airy Blue strategically around your home; use patterned cushions that feature a variety of other colours, including Airy Blue. Our interior designers would point your attention towards a pattern like Studio G Folki Pastel or Prestigious Fall Marshmallow, both of which incorporate gentle botanical prints to bestow an artistic and natural beauty.

Roman blinds in the sumptuous, rich pattern of Studio G Trad Pastel complements an Airy Blue room perfectly, featuring an autumnal pattern in a sweet assortment of candy shades that lend classic charm, particularly to bedrooms and living rooms.

Wood and brass accessories bestow a natural and classic charm to the room and act as an earthy contrast to Airy Blue’s sky weightless colour.
