BUTTERCUP

A perfect blend of refinement and naivety, Buttercup brings the sunshine to Pantone’s Spring 2016 palette.

This delightful shade of yellow is unashamedly summery; there is almost a naivety to Buttercup, as it beams positive vibes throughout a room no matter what colours it is teamed with. Buttercup is the perfect shade of yellow to fashion a Classic French decor, particularly in the bedroom, and it is this look we are helping you to achieve today.

As far as room design ideas go, Classic French remains a timeless favourite with interior designers all over the world; it reflects a time when opulence and elegance were probably more prominent than any other time in history. It’s also particularly popular in the world of room inspiration thanks to it being a classic example of less is more.

Classic French is a combination of positivity and celebration, juxtaposed with finesse and style – a collation of properties which could also be used to define Pantone’s Buttercup shade. The beauty of the less is more approach is that it leaves plenty of room for one to experiment with a range of different colours.

Lilac Grey is an ultra-chic base colour for this decor, combining contemporary colour with classic luxury. It adds a soothed yet intriguing tone to the overall ambience, while also allowing you to inject bolder dabs of different shades throughout the room.

Overtones of white help to diversify the room’s colour. White borders, skirting boards and bed frames are enough to create a tantalizing and varied motif, coordinating beautifully with the Lilac Grey walls. White fur rugs are also a splendid finishing touch, adding texture and luxury to your interior.

Strokes of Buttercup fabric, such as our Prestigious Capulet Eucalyptus roman blind, complemented with some cushions made from Prestigious Panama Lemon, will zest up the room, preventing it from becoming dull. Contrast these yellow cushions with an assortment of cushions in cool shades of blue, for example Prestigious Polo Alaskan Blue or Sicilia Indigo, to fashion a seaside motif. A dash of striped fabric will also enhance the Classic French feel.

Wooden furniture in a natural finish, such as bedside tables and chest of drawers, will add a rustic dimension to the room, creating an earthy focal point in your home.

Extravagant lighting is a must to fashion a palatial aesthetic, typical of a vintage French home. Chandeliers are a favourite in Classic French interiors, creating a vintage feel that is reminiscent of the 19th century. Silver accessories bring your decor right up to date; aside from the silver chandelier, a silver table lamp would complement the room very nicely, as would silver picture frames and large wall mirrors. These would also reflect the natural light, helping to make the room appear more spacious.

A perfect finishing touch would be a side sofa in a Buttercup shade. This would lend a quintessentially classic French look, completing your French decor in the most stylish way possible.
